Dear Friend, The extent of devastation in Haiti is heart wrenching. A catastrophy of incomprehensible magnitude which has killed hundreds of thousands of people and left over 3 million people displaced, including hundreds of thousands of orphaned children. To those of you who are moved by watching this tragedy unfold and want to help, I would like to say that of all the many relief groups I have known and for which I have raised money, the American Refugee Committee ARC), stands on top. As the Minnesota Hungarians, we have granted the proceeds of our past fund-raising efforts for disaster relief to ARC, and we wish to do the same at this time. We believe they have spent our contributions very efficiently and productively.

My husband and I have donated personally to ARC and helped them voluntarily for over 11 years. We know who founded it, who has managed it and who is on the ground in Haiti providing hands-on and life-saving services. This is an organization which spends approximately 90% of its funds on the field not only providing emergency medical, water and sanitation services but hiring the local Haitians to do most of the work. And, when the cameras are gone, ARC stays there to help them rebuild their homes, their lives and their hopes. I can assure you that those at ARC, form its founder, Neal Ball, to its board members and staff are among the most decent, honest and competent human beings I have ever met. I say this because I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of them. They are professionals of utmost integrity. Your financial contributions could not be entrusted in better hands. ARC is headquartered in Minneapolis and all their records are public. I believe they are genuinely committed to alleviate this and other miseries in our troubled world. These are the times when we must show our humanity and compassion which define the best in us.
I urge you to reach out and help by sending your tax-deductible donation to: Minnesota Hungarians, Inc. Haiti Disaster Relief Fund 11705 Live Oak Drive Minnetonka, MN 55305
